Double Vision Cards Will Have You Seeing Double!

These cards are so interesting yet so quick to make. Can you see how every other strip is popped up, and the others lie flat? It’s easiest to see on the card on the left. Make sure to check out my YouTube video showing how to make it.

To make the card, cut a regular card base by cutting a full piece of Pecan Pie cardstock in half horizontally and then fold in half. Then cut a piece of Crushed Curry to 4″ x 5-1/4″. Take a piece of Glow of Harvest Specialty Designer Series Paper (or other Designer Series Paper) and cut it as well to 4″ by 5-1/4″. Now take the Glow of Harvest Specialty Designer Series Paper and, holding it vertically, cut the long way into seven 1/2″ strips. The last piece will be slightly thicker than 1/2″, so cut the extra off. This will give you the room you need for the spaces between the strips. It is very important to keep the strips in the same order in order to keep the pattern across the card.

Next place the Crushed Curry piece on your workspace and place the seven strips on top, loosely in place. Starting from the left, the 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th strips will be placed flat on the card, and the 2nd, 4th, and 6th strips will be popped up with dimensionals or foam strips. Move the 2nd, 4th, and 6th strips up to be out of the way but just above the Crushed Curry piece. Using liquid glue (it’s important here to use liquid glue), glue down the far left strip (the 1st strip) and then the far right strip (the 7th strip), lining them up against the edge (again, to create the space between strips). Now glue the 3rd strip down, and then the 5th strip. All the flat strips are now glued down.

Using foam strips if you have them, or Stampin’ Dimensionals if you do not, adhere the 2nd, then the 4th, then the 6th strips in the empty spaces between the glued down strips. I like to use foam strips the best because they are easiest for the design, but you can also use Stampin’ Dimensionals (when I use Stampin’ Dimensionals, I use a lot – about 6 per strip – so that it will keep its popped up dimension. I do not worry about using so many because Stampin’ Dimensionals cost 1.67 cents per dimensional, so six of them cost 10 cents.) Now all the strips are adhered, every other one popped up, and in the correct pattern. Using liquid glue again, adhere the Crushed Curry piece with the strips onto the front of the Pecan Pie card base.

Using the Rounded Rectangle Punch, punch a piece of Basic White Cardstock for the sentiment. Stamp your sentiments. I used Thankful for You from the Fern and Flora stamp set and stamped with Cajun Craze ink. Using liquid glue (yes, again), add a little glue to each side of the sentiment spot, then adhere to the popped up pieces of Glow of Harvest Specialty Designer Series Paper. Finish by adding the 2025-2027 In Color Flat Pearls.

I also added a Basic White piece of Paper to the inside and added a 1/2″ strip from the same Glow of Harvest paper across the bottom. I love bringing the same pattern from the front into the inside of the card.
